Workplace accident victims demand long-awaited compensation increases

In front of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Rabat, victims of workplace accidents and occupational diseases protested on Tuesday, demanding the immediate issuance of decrees to increase compensation benefits.

Protesters, including widows and orphans, condemned the government’s continued neglect, noting that the last increase—20% with retroactive effect from 2013—was issued in 2019. Since then, no adjustments have been made, despite worsening living conditions.

Najim Ourzane, president of the Moroccan Association of Workplace Accident Victims, called the protest “a plea to implement decrees covering the 2013–2023 period.”

He emphasized the severe physical and psychological impact on disabled victims.
