Veteran Philippine actress and national icon, Nora Aunor, has passed away at the age of 71.
The sad news was confirmed by her daughter, Lotlot de Leon, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
She did not disclose the cause of death but expressed the family’s grief and requested prayers and support during their time of mourning.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, celebrated television and movie actress, and a true National Artist of the Philippines, Nora Aunor,” Lotlot wrote. “Her funeral service details to follow.”
Aunor, who rose to fame in the 1960s as a singer before becoming one of the country’s most acclaimed actresses, left a lasting legacy in the Philippine entertainment industry. In 2022, she received the highest honor for actors in the country—
National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts.
