Kathmandu, April 20 — Hari Maharjan Project is set to perform Culture In Sync at the Sydney Opera House on June 19, 2025.
This genre-defying concert, presented by Sangam Productions, fuses the rhythmic vitality of Newa musical traditions from the Kathmandu Valley with the improvisation of contemporary jazz.
Following its debut in Kathmandu earlier this year, Culture In Sync now travels to one of the world’s most prestigious stages. Audiences can expect a soundscape that combines traditional Dhime and Khe drums with jazz guitar, Pulukishi performances, and Newa-inspired costumes, creating an immersive cultural and musical experience.
“Bringing Newa heritage to the Opera House is a dream come true,” says Maharjan, the lead artist and visionary behind the project. “Culture In Sync proves music can bridge continents and unite travellers, artists, and communities,” adds Nirvana Bista, music director and former student of Maharjan.
