paid homage to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on Friday.
As an expression of worldwide solidarity and empathy, monks together with others maintained silence and ignited candles to honor the 26 individuals who lost their lives in the assault.

A prominent university situated in Suryamaninagar, Agartala, hosted a peace march to denounce the assault on visitors in Pahalgam.
The rally saw the presence of Vice-Chancellor Professor Ganga Prasad Prasain, along with senior faculty members including deans from the Science, Commerce, and Arts departments, alongside numerous staff and student participants. Expressing collective sorrow and unity, the academic community came together to pay tribute to those who have passed away and extend heartfelt condolences to their grieving families.
At the end of the peace rally held in the university’s outdoor theater, Professor Prasain initiated a quiet remembrance, pausing for a moment of silence to honor the deceased with prayers for everlasting peace. During his speech, he denounced the atrocious deed and underscored the significance of solidarity, tranquility, and concord amid such calamities.
In the meantime, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister
Eknath Shinde
honored Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who died attempting to rescue tourists during the Pahalgam terrorist incident.
Shinde recounted Shah’s brave deed, stating that he tried to grab the attackers’ firearm to safeguard the visitors.
“What happened here wasn’t related to caste or religion. Tourists present at the location were randomly targeted by the terrorists, and this individual attempted to rescue them. Despite his efforts to disarm the attackers and protect the tourists, he was unfortunately slain by yet another terrorist,” stated Shinde.
“What happened here has nothing to do with caste or religion. The attackers were firing randomly at the tourists present, and this individual attempted to rescue them. He even tried to grab the weapon away from the assailants to stop further harm to the tourists. But then, another terrorist arrived and ended his life,” stated Shinde.
Shinde disclosed that he had communicated with Shah’s family and evaluated their challenging economic circumstances, considering Shah to be the only source of income for them. In order to assist, the Shiv Sena plans to furnish the family with Rs 5 lakh in monetary help.
The assault in Pahalgam took place on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow, where attackers targeted visitors, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepalese national, with multiple individuals sustaining injuries. This incident ranks among the most lethal events in the area since the 2019 Pulwama strike, which resulted in the loss of 40 CRPF soldiers’ lives. (ANI)
