Judge M Zahid Hasan of the Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal has set May 10 as the date for the next hearing.

The court additionally documented the statements from the two witnesses, with an expectation that three additional witnesses will provide testimony on Monday.

On April 13, the police presented the charge sheet in the case to the court, a month following the incident.

The main suspect in the case, Hitu Sheikh, submitted a confession to the court under Section 164.

Asiya passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on March 13, a week after she was assaulted.

The brutal assault and subsequent death of the young girl ignited nationwide protests. Students from universities such as Dhaka University took part in these demonstrations, calling for capital punishment for those responsible.
