on Friday said that, with positive thinking and collective effort, Assam is on its way to becoming one of the strongest states in the country.
Addressing the 32nd Convocation of Gauhati University, the

emphasised that India is advancing through the pillars of culture, education, science and the arts.
“As the nation advances, Assam is evolving into a region marked by tranquility and wealth. Through optimistic outlooks and collaborative endeavors, Assam is poised to become one of the most robust states within the country,” he stated.

He highlighted the importance of cultivating a fresh cohort of students—individuals with creative ideas and entrepreneurial aspirations, prepared to tackle difficulties and shape the future via startup ventures.
The aspirations and ingenuity of students form the bedrock of progress, and a renewed Assam requires the vigor of young people who dare to envision grand futures and strive for greatness. He told the fresh graduates that the administration would provide numerous chances for them to chase their aspirations in Assam.

In total, 3,593 students obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees, whereas 148 were granted PhDs.
Honorary PhD degrees were conferred upon Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, Former Director of Dr B Barooah Cancer Institute, Tapan Kumar Saikia, Honorary Director of Oncoscience, Jaslok Hospital & Research Institute, Mumbai and Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

Offered sincere felicitations to all graduates and thanked the faculty, parents, and families for their commitment.
During this event, he likewise declared a financial aid of Rs 250 crore from the State Government aimed at the comprehensive development of Gauhati University.
In contrast, Assam Governor Acharya requested Gauhati University to actively participate as a collaborator in the collective endeavor to transform India into a global center for education, innovation, and ethical principles.
“Collectively, we need to work toward restoring India’s position as the global guru and a leading nation in knowledge and wisdom. Guahati University should spearhead our unwavering efforts for the rapid advancement of our country,” stated the Governor.
The Governor additionally urged for enhanced academic cooperation with both domestic and foreign entities, requesting Gauhati University to spearhead these initiatives and establish significant collaborations with institutes such as IITs and NITs via “Innovation Clubs” and incubator networks.
Highlighting the pivotal role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in revamping the educational ecosystem nationwide, Governor Acharya urged Gauhati University to serve as a driving force in achieving the objectives outlined in NEP 2020.
He commended the Gauhati University for being the first in the Northeast to implement NEP 2020 and lauded its adoption of digital platforms like e-Samarth as a testament to its technological competence.
The Governor on the occasion highlighted Assam’s rich heritage as a land of sages and knowledge, referring to the iconic figures such as Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, Sri Sri Madhavdev, Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi, and Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
He also praised the scenic and intellectually vibrant campus of Gauhati University as an ideal space for learning and innovation.
The Governor, addressing the graduates, said, “Our students have made us proud by excelling in diverse fields, from science and humanities to arts and technology. Their achievements, including prestigious national and international awards, patents, and groundbreaking research, are a reflection of the university’s excellence, devotion and dedication.”
Underscoring the importance of education as a lifelong pursuit, Acharya urged the students to carry forward a spirit of curiosity, compassion, and innovation.
“Degrees are not the end of your learning journey, but a stepping stone towards serving society and the nation,” he remarked.
As Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev stated, he advised students that associating with wise individuals fosters genuine illumination.
He stressed that education should foster both knowledge and character, steering students towards becoming responsible, compassionate individuals who use technology with a humane approach.
