Art lovers are invited to explore a new language of sight and sound during “Resonant Abstractions”, which is running at SAC Gallery, until May 31.
This marks D-Jai Kosiyabong’s inaugural solo show where they explore the convergence of visual art, sound, language, and memory. The exhibit offers an engaging multidimensional encounter that subverts traditional notions of communication.
In her remarkable series of abstract artworks combined with sounds that push past conventional art limits, she converts speech structures into vivid visual designs while also turning these visuals into multi-dimensional auditory encounters — encouraging observers to “hear through their sight and view via their hearing.”
Central to her creations is an insightful examination into the ways we internalize and express our encounters. Inspired by the deeply ingrained role of language within culture, the display delves into how our recollections and communications are molded by shared linguistic systems that encapsulate intrinsic cultural beliefs.
Audiences will come across carefully created artworks with organized brushstrokes that resemble forms of writing. These artistic components are subsequently converted into audio via algorithmic methods, resulting in sonic pieces that echo the structures found within the artwork.
This synthesis creates what the artist calls “a new language,” wherein paintings transform into letters and installations evolve into sentences and dialogues within themselves.
D-Jai is known in the international art scene for her work in significant group exhibitions at Carlsberg Byens Galleri in Copenhagen, Denmark and Gallery House in Brooklyn, New York.
Her creations have attracted significant attention from art enthusiasts throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, highlighting her skill in producing artwork that resonates deeply across different cultures.
The SAC Gallery is located on Sukhumvit 39 and operates from Tuesday through Saturday between 11 am and 6 pm.
