Joo Min-gyu Rises: 6 Games, 5 Goals, 1 Assist—First K-League Player of the Month for 2025!

After Joo Min-gyu moved to Daejeon Hana Citizen, he began another successful period and was honored with his first Player of the Month award for this season.

On the 21st, The Korea Professional Football Federation formally declared that Joo Min-gyu was honored as the inaugural winner of the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award for 2025. This accolade involves selecting nominees from various categories such as Gyeonggi Training Player of the Month, Best Eleven, and Monthly Most Valuable Player based on votes cast by the Federation’s TSG Technical Committee (accounting for 60%). Following this initial selection process, those chosen become eligible for further fan voting conducted via the official K-League site (constituting 25% of total points) along with an online poll amongst EASPORTS™ FC users (comprising 15%), ultimately determining the recipient whose overall tally ranks highest after these scores have been combined.

This year’s first ‘Player of the Month ‘ was based on his performance in a total of six games from the first to sixth rounds of the K League 1. In addition to Joo Min-gyu, Kim Jun-ha (Jeju), Boyanich (Ulsan), and Lee Dong-kyung (Kimcheon) were listed as candidates. Joo Min-gyu ranked first in all TSG voting, K-League fans, and FC online voting, winning the Player of the Month award from February to March.

Joo Min-kyu scored multiple goals from the opening round (3-0 Daejeon win) against the Pohang Steelers. Since then, he has scored a total of five goals and one assist in the third round against Suwon FC, one goal-1 assist in the fourth round against Daegu FC, and one goal in the fifth round against Jeju United, leading the K League 1 scoring. Daejeon led the way by winning all the games scored by Joo Min-kyu.

Joo Min-gyu is set to earn his second ‘Player of the Month’ award since February-March 2023. After joining Ulsan in 2023, Joo Min-kyu quickly became an integral part of the team and secured the inaugural ‘Player of the Month’ honor for the season. This achievement marks the first instance where a Daejeon player has received such recognition. He will be presented with both the ‘Player of the Month’ accolade and the corresponding prize money.
