Sri Lanka, April 21 — In an effort to help alleviate the stress experienced by youngsters visiting Kandy alongside their parents for the ‘Siri Dalada Vandanawa,’ a special ceremony honoring the Sacred Tooth Relic, the Buddha Sasarna Ministry has arranged for them to engage in drawing activities as a form of relaxation during extended wait times in line.
As a result, each day, 500 young children who are queued up have the chance to create drawings.
Samantha Nagahatenna, who serves as the Assistant Secretary for Development Affairs at the Buddhasasana Ministry, stated that within this initiative, they aim to offer 5,000 children the chance to engage in drawing activities over the span of 10 days during the Exposition.
Children who draw receive a significant certification prize. The Pentium Institute supplies all essential art supplies likeboards and pastels for their projects. M.D. Gunasena Bookstore has ensured that every child gets the Pirith Maldama book as a present.
Facilities were set up for children near the Queens Hotel in Kandy with this aim in mind. The event was inaugurated by Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Hiniduma Sunil Senevi on Friday (18).
