and creative industries, calling the state a vital force in nurturing artistic talent and shaping the country’s cultural narrative.

Speaking during his visit to the Maharashtra Pavilion at the Waves Summit, PM Modi emphasised the state’s historic role in the evolution of Indian
cinema

and creativity, Maharashtra has a pivotal role. The state has nurtured generations of people associated with the world of creativity and

. Maharashtra’s cultural depth and artistic energy continue to influence the entertainment sector positively. Visited the Maharashtra Pavilion during the Waves Summit,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.

PM Modi also visited the Bharat Pavilion at the event, which highlights India’s

tic heritage and showcases opportunities within the creative economy.

Emphasising the immense potential of India’s creative economy, stating that in the coming years, its contribution to the country’s GDP is set to increase significantly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is emerging as a global hub for film production, digital content, gaming, fashion, and music.

Speaking at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 today at the Jio World Convention Centre, the Prime Minister noted the promising growth opportunities in the live concert industry and the vast potential in the global animation market, which currently stands at over USD 430 billion and is projected to double in the next decade.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this offers a major chance for India’s animation and graphic design sector, encouraging all parties involved to capitalize on this growth for enhanced global presence.

Prime Minister Modi urged India’s emerging talents to propel the country’s Orange Economy ahead, recognizing that their dedication and effort are sparking a fresh surge of innovation. He highlighted that regardless of whether these innovators are musicians based in Guwahati, podcasters hailing from Kochi, game developers working in Bengaluru, or moviemakers operating in Punjab, each one is playing an instrumental role in bolstering India’s expanding creative industry.

He affirmed that the government strongly backs creative professionals by implementing programs such as Skill India, Startup Support, measures tailored for the AVGC sector, and international stages like WAVES. He noted that all efforts aim at cultivating a milieu where creativity and invention are cherished, nurturing fresh aspirations and enabling people to turn these visions into reality.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that WAVES will act as a significant hub where creativity intersects with coding, software combines with storytelling, and art converges with augmented reality. He encouraged young innovators to seize this chance, aspire boldly, and commit themselves to bringing their ideas to life.

Highlighting the significance of Creative Responsibility in the tech-dominated 21st century, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that with technology playing an ever-greater role in our daily lives, additional efforts must be made to maintain emotional sensibility and cultural diversity.

He noted that the realm of creativity has the potential to enhance human empathy and broaden social awareness. He emphasized that the objective is not to produce automatons but to cultivate people with enhanced sensibility, profound emotions, and intellectual sophistication—attributes that cannot be derived solely from an excess of data or rapid technological advancement.

The WAVES 2025 summit, spanning four days under the slogan “Uniting Creators, Uniting Nations,” aims to establish India as a worldwide center for media, entertainment, and technological advancement by gathering content producers, emerging businesses, key figures in various industries, and government officials from all corners of the globe.
